PRO6: Cops are not exempted from Illegal Parking Violations

Police Regional Office 6 director, Brigadier General Rene P Pamuspusan issued a directive addressed to all his personnel prohibiting them to park their vehicles and motorcycles on public roads. The memo with subject: Prohibition to Park on Public Roads dated March 5 is in compliance to the Command Guidance and DILG Memo Circular 2020-027.

The issuance of the said directive is to address the concern of Liga ng mga Barangay President, Irene Ong, councilor of Iloilo City. Ong said in an interview with the media that they could not impose their road clearing operations specifically in Barangay Veterans, City Proper because most of the vehicles parked in the said area are owned by PNP personnel or camp visitors.

Police Brigadier General Rene P Pamuspusan, PRO6 director said that as police officers, they have to comply with policies. “Tayo dapat ang unang sumunod sa mga ipinapatupad ng DILG” Pamuspusan said as he put emphasis that policemen are not exempted to this policy. Meanwhile, he encouraged barangay officials and traffic enforcers to issue citation tickets to the PNP personnel if there are violations committed.

PRO6 assured of their full cooperation on the matter and personnel who refuse to follow the directive on road clearing could be administratively charged.

Under DILG Memo 2020-027, all LGUs are ordered to remove obstructions in all provincial, city, municipal and barangay roads. It was defined that road clearing shall mean the removal of illegal or unauthorized road obstruction along the road right-of-way, which encompasses the the entire width of the road carriageway, including travel way for motor vehicles and road shoulders, and sidewalks.
